What Is The Kabrita Story?

Kabrita is derived from the Spanish word “cabrito” which means little goat or kid.

True to its roots, Kabrita has 75 years of experience in producing goat milk-based baby formula. Kabrita is a division of a multinational company, Ausnutria. Ausnutria factory dates back to 1897. It now produces goat milk-based baby formulas, baby food such as cereals and snacks, private label baby formula, and a large range of dairy products and ingredients.

Kabrita has about 50 goat farmers who exclusively supply their milk to Kabrita. They only use Dutch white Saanen goats that are well-known for producing high-quality milk. The farmers strictly follow KwaliGeit quality assurance protocols.

After the goat-milk has been collected, it is transported to Kabrita product facilities that is powered by the latest technology. The facilities follow the guidelines, protocols, and regulations of HACCP and undergo audits conducted by independent and third party companies.

All Kabrita baby formulas are proudly manufactured in the Netherlands.

What Makes Kabrita Baby Formula Special?

Kabrita differs from other baby formula companies by focusing and promoting these four factors:

  • Core
  • Experience and Expertise
  • Transparency
  • Pleasant and Mild Taste

1. Core: Goat Milk Based Baby Formula ONLY

While other baby formulas offer cow and goat options to cater to a wider audience, Kabrita firmly believes that DUTCH goat milk is the best alternative to breastmilk. High quality Dutch goat milk’s gentle nature is soft and friendly to your babies’ tummies.

2. Experience and Expertise

Kabrita has over 100 years of operations and over seven decades of expertise in goat milk-based baby formula production. While other companies also have around the same quanity of years, Kabrita is trusted in the market to produce white-label baby formula for other private brands.

3. Transparency

Kabrita promotes honestly, directness, and straightforwardness:

  • Kabrita specifically declares that Kabrita baby formulas are NOT fully organic. Because of the limited availability of Dutch goat milk, it is not possible to produce mass quantity to supply global demand using fully organic milk.
  • Kabrita lists the following ingredients (even if other baby formula companies do not) Kabrita firmly believes in full transparency, respect to customers, and access to full information:
    1. Glucose Syrup
Although it is not mandatory to declare that Kabrita baby formulas contain a very small amount of glucose syrup. Kabrita uses glucose syrup as a carrier agent of nutrients, minerals, vitamins, and vital dietary fibers.
    2. Sugar
Kabrita lists sugar as an ingredient on the packaging. There is no added granulated sugar to the baby formula. However; sugar, as umbrella term covers all short chain carbohydrates. Lactose, also known as milk sugar, is the carbohydrate of all Kabrita baby formula and breastmilk.
    3. Salt
Kabrita lists salt as an ingredient. Most of the salt in the baby formula is sodium that is naturally present in the Dutch goat milk. Salt is not necessarily bad because the body needs sodium for fluid balance and muscle contraction.

4. Pleasant and Mild Taste

While goat milk is typically associated with a “goaty” taste and aroma, Kabrita assures customers that its baby formulas have a mild taste because the Dutch goat milk used is always fresh and the production process is fast.

Kabrita believes that goat milk is the best base for baby formula because of its soft and gentle nature compared to cow milk. Goat milk resembles breast milk more than cow milk, too. I have read a lot of good things about Kabrita, so I was excited to try it with my baby. I started with the locally available Kabrita, which is the toddler formula. However, since my baby was only 5 months old then it was just not the right fit. She was fussy and gassy, and she kept crying a lot. I searched and I saw that the infant formula of Kabrita is available online, and shipped from the EU. I tried Kabrita Stage 1, and there was a huge difference! She digested the infant formula better, and she was happier! I think my tip to all parents reading this is to always purchase the formula appropriate to your baby’s age. Never give toddler formula to an infant, even if some blogs say it’s okay. The nutrients per formula stage match the nutritional requirements of babies at each age. You can either under-nourish or over-nourish your child.

This reminds me of when my baby was going through a tough phase with constant spit-up and sensitivity to cow’s milk. We ended up trying Kabrita Goat Milk Formula after doing some research and talking to our pediatrician. Honestly, I was a bit hesitant at first since goat milk formulas weren’t something I was familiar with. But it turned out to be a gentle option for my little one’s tummy. The transition was smooth, and I noticed less fussiness within just a few days. It gave both of us some much-needed peace of mind!

I had a certain loyalty to cow’s milk products as I believed they were healthy for my baby until my baby was diagnosed with a cow’s milk protein allergy. It was a heartbreaking situation when I realized that I had been feeding my child with a formula that’s making him worse. Gassiness, loose stools, spit-ups, fussiness, and sleepless nights. It was tiring and frustrating. Then we switched to Kabrita, a goat milk variant. It was a lifesaver. All the pain and cries were gradually eliminated. We realized that it is not about loyalty and insisting that one is the best, but it is how you adjust based on what is needed. Our baby is now thriving well with Kabrita. With its mild and pleasant taste, clean ingredients, and high-standard processing, I am sure my baby is safe.
