When milk is processed for baby formula manufacturing, it undergoes heat and dehydration treatment. This normal process can cause crystals to form in milk, but is not cause for any alarm. Milk crystals can range from light in color, all the way do dark brown and even black. Crystals that don't dissolve can be removed.
