Because Kendamil uses whole milk, MFGM is naturally present - it doesn't need to be extracted, processed, and added back in as a separate ingredient. What's NOT in Kendamil - And Why That Matters

• No palm oil. Palm oil is the most common fat source in infant formula worldwide. It's cheap and provides palmitic acid - but in formula, palm oil palmitic acid sits in a different position on the fat molecule (sn-1,3 vs sn-2), which can form insoluble calcium soaps in the gut, leading to harder stools, reduced calcium absorption, and digestive discomfort. Kendamil's whole milk fat provides palmitic acid naturally in the sn-2 position - the same position as in breast milk - eliminating the need for palm oil entirely.
• No fish oil. Most European formulas source DHA (omega-3) from fish oil, which can give the prepared formula a fishy smell. Kendamil uses DHA from marine algae (the organism fish themselves eat to obtain DHA). The result: no fishy odor, and the formula is 100% vegetarian certified. This also makes Kendamil compliant with Halal and Kosher dietary requirements.
• No starch or maltodextrin - at any stage. Many European formulas add starch or maltodextrin from Stage 2 onwards (Holle adds both; HiPP German adds starch from Stage 1). These are cheap carbohydrate fillers that thicken the formula and make babies feel fuller - but lactose is the carbohydrate naturally found in breast milk.
