Kendamil Classic Ready to Feed Stage 2 is Kendamil's follow-on milk for babies from 6 to 12 months, ready-mixed and sterilised in 250ml (8.5 fl oz) bottles. It is the second stage of the Classic ready-to-feed range that Kendamil introduced in 2024, made on the same whole milk base as the Stage 1 bottle, with GOS and FOS prebiotics, algae DHA, vitamin D and a little more iron for the weaning months. Kendamil's guidance for this stage is about a pint a day, 500-600ml, alongside solids, which works out at two to two and a half bottles.
Kendamil sells it in cases of 18. We sell it by the bottle in bundles of 18, 36 and 72, at the same price per bottle as Kendamil Classic Ready to Feed Stage 1. The certified organic equivalent is Kendamil Organic Ready to Feed Stage 2 in 200ml bottles, and the powder version is Kendamil Classic Stage 2.
What Changes From Stage 1 to Stage 2 in the Bottle
Less than you might expect, and we would rather say so than invent a difference. Kendamil positions Stage 2 as a follow-on milk to complement a weaning diet; nutritionally it is a close sibling of the Stage 1 bottle rather than a different product.

The iron increase is the point of a follow-on milk. A baby's iron stores from birth begin to run down at around six months, at the same time as solids start, and UK and EU rules set a higher minimum iron level for follow-on milks than for first infant milks. The rest of the profile moves only slightly, and the whey to casein balance does not move at all, which is unusual: most brands push casein up in Stage 2, and this bottle keeps the roughly 52:48 split of Stage 1.
The practical consequence is that you do not have to switch. Kendamil's Stage 1 bottle is labelled for use through the first year. Stage 2 is for parents who want the follow-on iron level once weaning is under way, or who simply want a bottle labelled for their baby's age.
Kendamil Classic Ready to Feed Stage 2 vs the Stage 2 Powder
The vitamin levels in the bottle track the tin closely, which tells you Kendamil built the liquid to the same specification. The base and the minerals differ, because a shelf-stable liquid cannot simply be the powder with water added.

Both are made without palm oil, fish oil, soy, starch or maltodextrin, both are vegetarian, and lactose is the only carbohydrate in both. If you already use the Stage 2 tin at home and want bottles for outings, the two sit together comfortably; just do not mix the contents of both into one feed.

There is no added sugar, no corn syrup, no starch and no maltodextrin.
Feeding Kendamil Ready to Feed Stage 2 Alongside Solids
Between 6 and 12 months milk is still the main event, and food is practice. Kendamil suggests about 500-600ml a day once weaning is established, given as a guide only, and that is a sensible frame: two to three milk feeds around meals, with food offered first at lunch and dinner from around eight or nine months so that appetite for solids has room to grow. Iron-rich first foods, such as well-cooked meat, lentils, beans, eggs and fortified cereal, do the heavy lifting that a follow-on milk only supports.
A 250ml bottle is about one generous feed at this age, or a feed plus a cup. From six months a free-flow or open cup is a good way to give some of the milk, and the bottle pours cleanly. Whatever is left goes back in the fridge with the cap on and is used within 24 hours.
Using, Warming and Storing the Bottles
- Wash your hands and sterilise the feeding bottle, teat or cup. The milk itself is sterile until opened.
- Check the best-before date and shake the bottle well before pouring; whole milk fat settles on the shelf.
- Serve at room temperature or warmed. To warm, stand the feeding bottle in warm water or use a bottle warmer and test on the inside of your wrist. Kendamil's instruction is "if warmed, check temperature of feed". Skip the microwave.
- Use a poured feed within two hours, or within one hour of your baby starting on it, then discard it. Never prepare a feed in advance and leave it out.
- Unopened bottles need no refrigeration. Keep them somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sun.
How Many Bottles a Month?
At Kendamil's suggested 500-600ml a day, a baby on Stage 2 alone uses two to two and a half 250ml bottles a day, so 60 to 72 bottles a month. That is the upper end; most families at this stage are combining bottles with powder, breast milk or both, and use far fewer. A 36-bottle bundle covers two weeks of full feeding or a month or more of outings and night feeds. The feeding guide above does the arithmetic for each feed size.
Where It Is Made and How Long It Keeps
Kendamil's powders are made at Kendal Nutricare's factory in Kendal, in the English Lake District. The ready-to-feed range is UHT-processed and aseptically filled, which the Kendal site does not do, and Kendamil describes the bottles as "lovingly made in Europe" for the company. Kendal Nutricare is the manufacturer named on the pack. Kendamil gives the Classic first infant milk bottle a 12-month shelf life from production; for the follow-on bottle, go by the best-before printed on each pack, in day/month/year order.
When to Move to Stage 3
Follow-on milk is labelled to 12 months. After the first birthday most toddlers can move to whole cow's milk as a drink, or to a toddler milk if you want the extra iron and vitamin D. Kendamil Classic Ready to Feed Stage 3 is the ready-to-drink toddler milk in 200ml bottles, and our toddler formula guide explains when a toddler milk earns its place and when it does not.
Kendamil Classic Ready to Feed Stage 2 FAQ – Everything Parents Want to Know
How much Kendamil Stage 2 Ready to Feed should a baby have each day?
Kendamil recommends about 1 pint, or 500-600ml, a day once weaning is established, given as a guide only. That is two to two and a half 250ml bottles, split across two or three milk feeds around meals.
How long does an opened bottle of Kendamil Stage 2 Ready to Feed last?
Refrigerated and capped, 24 hours. Once milk has been poured into a feeding bottle or cup it should be used within two hours, or one hour after your baby starts drinking, and any leftover discarded.
Is the Stage 2 bottle the same recipe as the Stage 2 powder?
Not exactly. The vitamin levels match the tin closely, but the bottle uses rapeseed and sunflower oil rather than sunflower, coconut and rapeseed, has more GOS and FOS, contains no nucleotides and has slightly more calcium and sodium per 100ml.
Does Kendamil Ready to Feed Stage 2 contain soy or palm oil?
No. The label lists milk as the only allergen. Kendamil's own comparison against Aptamil Ready to Drink 2 shows this bottle as palm oil free and soy free.
Can I mix Stage 2 bottles with Stage 1 bottles or powder?
You can use them in the same day; many parents keep Stage 2 bottles for outings and a Stage 1 or Stage 2 powder at home. Just do not mix the contents of two different products in one feed.
